I get at least 2 calls a month from my customers with questions on how to properly package their valuable artwork when using our Units portable storage containers.

Starry Night Van Gogh Print Framed.jpg

The answer is pretty simple:

1.         Carefully take the artwork off the wall.

2.         Wrap the picture twice in bubble wrap. Make sure that it is tightly wrapped.

3.         Cut open a cardboard box.

4.         Wrap the cardboard box around the artwork and bubble wrap, fitting it to the exact size of the artwork frame.

5.         Cut more cardboard box if needed to cover the portrait.

6.         Use secure duct tape to firmly fasten the boxes shut around the pictures.

When you put the pictures into the pod storage- make sure that they are either taped to one another, or tightly packed together to avoid rattling and shaking. Then fasten them to the side of the container with our unique channel locks (again - to decrease shaking and potential rattling)

UNITS is on display at the Lowe's in Dublin right off 580 and Tassajara Road. If you ever wanted to see how nice the inside of a UNIT storage container looks, there is a portable storage unit right in front of the Lowe's store.  You can come by Lowe's anytime this weekend (July 9-11th 2010). When it comes to storage systems UNITS containers are superior.  I almost wish there were storage pods, or packrat containers there so folks could really see the difference. Units have more storage space, and solid pine floors which makes them the better choice when storing or moving household things. At the Lowe's store they're hoping our unit inspires folks to do more remodeling. Join us at our UNITS facebook page.
When you need to remodel, portable storage units are not just a place to put things during the renovation, on-site storage also keeps your upholstery and furniture clean.  Even though your wood floor refinish contractor does his best to plastic-off the other rooms, dust gets into everything.  When we had our wood floor refinished, our desk that was behind a closed door, with plastic over, acquired a layer of dust- inside the desk drawer!  Dust was everywhere.  That wood and plaster dust just gets into everything during remodels.  Taping plastic across the door just doesn't stop the dust.  So, to keep your furniture dust free I would highly recommend putting it all into a mobile storage pod on your driveway.  That way, you still have your furniture right there when you need it, and it's out of the way of the remodel contractor, and it stays clean!  Otherwise if you do not use pods storage you will have the job of cleaning all that dust, just when you thought the job was over.  Check out more units customers stories at: Units Mobile Storage  Also please join us on facebook.
The federal tax new home buyers tax credit required folks to be in contract by Apr 30, so being May -it's officially moving season! At Units Mobile Storage last week the "movers" have been calling. It's always fun getting that first timer to the portable storage unit concept. After explaining the great concept of moving at your own pace, not having to hire movers for everything, and the beauty of no truck ramps, and the best part about these new customers- is they don't call our storage units - pods! It's always a little unsettling when I get that call telling me how great everything worked out for our customers, how great Units Mobile Storage customer service is, then they say, but now it's time to pick up your empty "moving pod". I always kindly remind them, we'll be out to pick up our "UNIT" right away. - But take solace in knowing that we did provide them the best storage container, and the best service and hopefully next time they will remember to call units! When we opened the doors of Livermore Units Mobile Storage I thought our busiest phone days would be just before long holiday weekends- like Easter weekend.  I thought folks would want to take the long 3 day weekend to get started packing, moving and getting settled into storage spaces.  But refreshingly, I get the least requests for portable storageunits  just before every holiday weekend.  How refreshing that everyone gives themselves a moving break, and celebrates the holiday.  Yes, business wise, the storage biz is slow this weekend, but that is truly a blessing. Just as commented on Units Storage's fan facebook page:  Happy Easter and Happy Passover everyone!

The rains have hit us hard. The entire San Francisco bay area has felt it, especially in the tri-valley where portable storage containers have been in major demand since the rains came two weeks ago. All of our restoration partners have feverishly tried to keep up with the repairs caused by the floods and rain. This has caused a major demand for desperately needed on-site storage container units. The rains have been taking their toll, but UNITS Mobile Storage of Livermore has been here to help keep your things dry during the repair process.  Most times we deliver the same day the leaks are discovered. Hopefully the sun will shine again soon.
Units Mobile Storage works with a Livermore remodeler that was spending too much money on labor and truck rental fees for short term jobs.  So, Units is the portable storage solution by delivering an empty UNIT to this construction company's office and then they use the UNIT to collect new fixtures for a time, then the construction company adds their tools.

Once all supplies have been accumulated we pick up their UNIT and redeliver to the remodeling job construction location site where, for one week, the UNIT is the on-site supply storage system for the remodel job.  After the remodel is finished Units mobile storage can either deliver the UNIT back to the construction office for them to empty or just return that UNIT to our warehouse empty.

This portable storage system results in a lot of dollar savings for the remodel company..... from monthly rent savings on unneeded warehouse space, rental truck costs savings, and their drivers time to take supplies to and from their construction site.
